• Rules for increasing and decreasing patterns, duration, using measurement of time, operations with integers, construction, perfect squares, one-step equations with variables, computational thinking, digital literacy, drafting, media arts, computers and communication devices

Goal

Students will sign up for a Google CS First account and create a dance animation with basic geometric shapes and music.

Time

Four - 45 minutes class periods

​

Materials Required

• Scratch (Browser)

• Google CS First (Browser)

Prep:

You will need to create a club so you can easily keep track of usernames, passwords and progress.

​

1. Go here sign in below "I am an educator or volunteer".

2. Click on the pink button "start a new club".

3. Find your school click "host" and save the location.

4. Now create a club.

5. Choose your theme "music and sound".

6. You can go through the steps or just click "exit and resume later".

7. You now have a "club code" write it up on the board.

Activity 1: (how to build the dance scene)

 

1. When you students arrive send them here.

2. Have them click on "Enter club code".

3. Tell them to click "yes" on "Do you need a CS First username and password?"

4. It will give them a username and password.

5. You have access to all of their usernames and passwords in your teacher dashboard now.

6. Send them here have them follow the videos and create on their new scratch account.

• Below are examples of Advanced projects, using the exact same 5 steps as above and using the 6 add ons but adding Geometric shapes, custom drawings and backgrounds
